Love with Muscle

Valentine's Day is almost upon us and as we look for something to celebrate this dreary winter season, we get really excited about V-day in our house. To celebrate this day on PJD, I've come up with this quirky way to say "I love you, Mom" through a fun and easy appliqué.

Love with Muscle is a free downloadable pattern for you to use to brighten up any shirt, sweatshirt, bag, card, gift ... whatever!

If you are going to do some embroidery to finish off this burly pattern (I recommend it - give it a try!), I advise you to either embroider the felt or fabric pieces before they are fused to the fabric. Otherwise, you can just grab a thimble and push through the layers. Takes longer (believe me, I did it this way) but still has the same nice effect.

In order to cover up the stitching on the inside of the shirt, I cut out a square of lightweight, extra-soft fleece and fused it to the inside fabric. Now the embroidery floss is glued to the fleece with no chance of it coming out!

We really had fun with this shirt and as you can see it has no effect whatsoever in making a boy slow down a little bit. But that's how we know it's fun, right?

PLEASE REMEMBER: All Puddle Jumping Designs appliqué patterns are FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY. Please respect this rule and craft responsibly!

As always ...

I love this so much. I'll be making it for my two boys- well, the one big one, and the one to be born in a few months. You rock, and this is featured on my friday favorites this week!
